Glastonbury

Intimately connected with the legend of Camelot, Glastonbury Tor, seen here from Pennard Hill, rises abruptly from the Somerset plains, and since the 12th century has been identified with the enchanted Isle of Avalon. According to legend, Joseph of Aramathea brought the Holy Grail here, where King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table searched unsuccessfully for it. Arthur and Guinevere were supposed to have been buried here. Each summer, Glastonbury is the site of a rock festival.
