Cleaning spectacles of Spectacled Buddha
The 'Buddha of the Golden Spectacles', at Shwemyetman Pagoda in the small town of Shwedyaung, near Pye in central Burma. The original giant spectacles, in gold, were provided by a local nobleman, although they were soon stolen. This replacement pair was donated by an English colonial officer whose wife suffered from eye problems. The spectacles are cleaned monthly.
