Dani men.
Men of the Dani tribe in Irian Jaya gather for a demonstration in Wamena, the principal town of the highlands, in the Baliem Valley. The traditional men's dress is no more than a shaped gourd used as a penis sheath, or horim (called koteka in Indonesian) tied around the testicles at the base, sometimes with a cord securing the tip to the man's chest. When preparing for war and on special occasions, this attire is supplemented with headdress and other decoration, in this case of modern origin. The Dani are Melanesian..
