Hell bas-relief
One of the 32 Hells carved in bas-relief on the walls of Angkor Wat, Cambodia. This is the Maharaurava Hell, for unspecified sins, in which victims are hung on frames while demons hammer nails into their bodies. Angkor Wat is the world's largest religious monument and an architectural masterpiece, it is the apogee of classical Khmer style. Built between 1113 and 1150 by King Suryavarman II, it was both city and temple, the capital of the Empire and the State Temple dedicated to the god Vishnu.
