Shao Fan House

Entrance hall of the Beijing house and studio of artist Shao Fan, designed by him. Shao Fan is a painter. sculptor and designer with a profound interest in Chinese culture,he drew inspiration from traditional Chinese aesthetics when designing his own house. ..The front room of the house - like every room in the building - has a courtyard view. The Ming-style chair were designed by Sha, and are shown alongside pieces from his collection of Chinese antiques. The freestanding block wall of black-stained wood follows Feng Shui principles by providing an interior screen just inside the entrance - it blocks spirits, which are believed to travel only in straight lines.
