9-Tsubo House
Interior of one of a series of tiny cubic Japanese homes, known as “9-tsubo houses”. One tsubo is the area of two tatami mats laid side by side — 3.3 metres square. The first 9-subo house was built in 1952 by architect Makoto Masuzawa. This modern version, by architect Makoto Koizumi, is in Koga, Shiga prefecture.
