Living Room
Living room of a modern Japanese house in Sakuragaoka near Tokyo, designed by architect Kunihiko Hayakawa. Built to accommodate a family of parents and son, the design resulted in two houses linked by a bridge but also intersecting with each other and the garden area. Working mainly in concrete and glass, Hayakawa allocated a high 30 percent of the exterior surfaces to transparent and semi-transparent glass, in order to “create a sense of continuity between interior and exterior spaces and open the house to the surroundings.”
