Asia Gate House
View of the shallow bay from Asia Gate House, a modern seaside house in Okinawa, Japan. Design by Japanese architect Tetsuo Goto, the principle applied throughout is Shakkei or ‘borrowed view’ (one of the boldest techniques in the traditional of the Japanese garden), where the reflections in the pools give an illusory impression that there is continuity between the water in the pool and the sea.
