Kaho House
A garden in Kyoto design by Atsushi Akenuji for the painter Akira Kaho. The house extends over two former properties, at differnt levels, and he wanted to keep his studio separete from the living areas. Because the space available for the garden is on a short steep slope, Akenuki created two gardens, one the walk to the studio and the other a framed view from the living room. A saji-ishi stone from Tottori prefecture in Japan, highly-prized — and highly-priced — for its unique surface of deep runnels.
