Hakone forest garden

Weekend cottage garden design by Koichiro Nakatani, in the Wooded hills of Hakone. Nakatani wanted the garden to look natural and unteded, yet be under firm control. The edge of this dark and cypress forest was planted to include pale deciduous species such as the ostrich fern, maples, dogwood and stewartias.
