The courtyard garden of the M house in Tokyo, design by Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa. In this sunken dwelling in the center of Tokyo, the central courtyard serves to “bring the outside into the interior, while at the same time securing privacy for the living space.” Framed by and reflected in the surrounding windows, a single dogwood occupies the end of the sunken garden..
