Rashaida Dance
A Rashaida sword dance, during which the men, one at a time, display their prowess as others clap and chant, “Bab Al-Haida” — “Gate of Paradise”. The Rashaida are closely related to the Saudi Arabia Bedouin, and migrated to Sudan from the Arabian Peninsula about 150 years ago. The Rashaida are a nomadic people who live in tents made of goatskins. They are herdsmen, breeding primarily goats and sheep.
