Z58 Building
The Z58 Building, Shanghai, designed for a lighting products company by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. A four-storey comprehensive conversion of an existing warehouse, with extensive use of glass, and a facade covered in polished steel trays containg plants. The penthouse suites are for visiting clients, this floor being also surrounded by a shallow moat. The bedroom has an electrically-operated louvred ceiling to control the daylight, a wooden plinth for the bed, and a glassed-in bathroom.
