Akha woman Xiding
Akha woman at Xiding weekly market, in the hills west of Menghai, Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, China. The Akha, known in China as Aini and Hani, are an upland ethnic minority in southern Yunnan, China (hilltribes). More than most other minorities, the Akha have retained costume tradition, of which the woman's headdress is distinctive, and varies between sub-groups. Formerly made of silver, modern headdresses are usually of tin or other alloys.
