Dali old town
View down Fuxing Lu from Wu Hua Lou tower, evening, Dali old town (Dali Gu Chang). Fuxing Lu, the main street of the old city, maintains its traditional architecture — an essential asset for a town that now lives mainly on tourism. Grass still grows on the roofs in summer. The town’s layout in a square grid, surrounded by a six-kilometre wall was established in 1383 during the Ming dynasty, and has been preserved, with varying degrees of rebuilding and restoration.
