Shoji
This arrangement of the tatami blocks around the circumference is traditional for zazen, in which trainee Zen monks sit facing the wall. The shadows of the shoji cross-pieces make a focus for concentration. Design by Japanese architect, Tetsuo Goto. A combination of concealed adjustable fluorescent striplights and daylight bathes the interior equally from ceiling and walls.
