Wat Thon Kwain
The teak assembly hall (viharn) of a rural monastery (wat) built in 1858, still in its unspoiled setting a little outside Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. The wooden construction and multiple tiered roofs, decorated with carvings of naga serpents is typical of monastery buildings from the north of Thailand, a region traditionally known as Lanna (meaning 'a million rice fields'). This monastery is also called Wat Inthrawat..
