Buddhist statue, Tashilunpo
Monk lighting butter candles, Jankhang Chenmo, in front of giant statue of Jampa, Tashilhunpo, the largest monastery in Tibet. Founded in 1447 by the first Dalai Lama, Tashilunpo belongs to the Gelugpa, or 'Yellow Hat' school of Tibetan Buddhism.
The Jankhang Chenmo was erected to house the gigantic statue of the Maitreya Buddha.
