Camboglanna
This remote part of Hadrian's Wall at Birdoswald, with the River Irthing meandering at the foot of the escarpment, is called Camboglanna. According to the Annales Cambriae, the final battle in which King Arthur was mortally wounded by his treacherous nephew Mordred, took place here in the north of England at "Camlann". Other accounts have the battle take place in the south or southwest of England.
