Cenote de Dzitnup

The natural underground lake of the Cenote de Dzitnup on the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. A cenote is an underground limestone sinkhole, and they were the principal source of water for the Mayans. Chemical reaction with water causes the slow erosion of limestone into caves, and also the formation of satalctites and stalagmites. This cenote is now used for swimming.
