Edison's Lamp
Edison's incandescent lamp. Many inventors had tried to make an incandescent lamp, but had failed for lack of the tight material for a filament. Thomas Alva Edison was successful with this model, dated October 21, 1879, in which the high-resistance filament was made of carbonized cotton sewing thread.
