A gilded finial in the form a lotus bud and leaves, on the chedi of Wat Doi Suthep, near Chiang Mai, Thailand. This 14th century Buddhist temple on the hill overlooking the city is reputed to contain a relic of the Buddha, and is one of the holiest temples in Lanna ('One Million Rice Fields', the traditional name for the northern provinces of Thailand).
