The Grand-Place in the centre of Brussels, built mainly between 1696 and 1704 (following the bombardment of the city by the French in 1695). The most beautiful façades are of the grand houses on the northwest side of the Place, seen here at left, featuring a mixture of baroque and Renaissance architecture and decoration.
