Myashita Restaurant, Gaienmae, Tokyo. Architect: Kengo Kuma. Private dining room with a cherrywood table against a wall covered with hand-made Japanese washi paper. Paper is also used for the floor cushions and covers the acrylic wall at right. The paper is given a protective treatment with a liquid made from mashed bulbs of the konnyaku plant and from fermented unripe perssimons.
