The largest bronze Buddha statue in the world, of Maitreya (Jampa), the Buddha of the Future. 80-foot high, it stands in the Jamkhang Chenmo building in the temple complex of Tashilunpo, the largest monastery in Tibet. Founded in 1447 by the first Dalai Lama, Tashilunpo belongs to the Gelugpa, or 'Yellow Hat' school of Tibetan Buddhism.
