Tanaka house
A modern interpretation of a Japanese tea-ceremony room in steel and glass projects out over a contemporary pond garden at a house near Osaka, designed by the architect-gardener partnership of Chitoshi Kihara and Yasujirou Aoki. The pebble beach and granite rocks represent a miniature landscape of forest-clad mountains rising from an ocean. The planting includes ferns, maple (Acer palmatum), camellia (Camellia lutchuensis) and blue Japanese oak (Quercus glauca)..
