Shinto priests
At the Imperial Shinto shrine of Isé-jingu, on the Shima Peninsula of Japan's Pacific coast, Shinto priests walk in procession towards the Inner Shrine (Naiku), carrying a karahitsu, a Shinto ark. The central deity worshipped is Amaterasu Omikami, the sun goddess and ancestor of the imperial house.
