Bas-relief statue of the compassionate bodhisattva Lokesvara, carved on the sanctuary wall of Neak Pean, Angkor, Cambodia. The late-12th century island temple of Neak Pean, at Angkor, Cambodia. Originally a Hindu site, it was adapted to Buddhism during the reign of Jayavarmman VII. The small square artificial lake may represent the sacred Himalayan Lake Anavatapa, famous for its miraculous healing properties.
