Kusumi
A large guest house by the Inland Sea near Kobe, Japan. Created by international plasterer, Akira Kusumi, it embodies natural crafts and alternative design. The spacious entertainment area is housed in a comma-shaped building, roofed entirely in semi-transparent plastic sheeting to create an open, bright atmosphere. The sense of an outdoor space indoors is enhanced by the sand floor and the use of natural materials. The pillars supporting the curved wooden walkways are concrete, clad with a hollow tapering shell of wooden slat secured by rope wound around them in a spiral and stapled. .
