Tokyo city minka
A modern Japanese home in Tokyo city designed in the style of a minka, a post-and-beam construction of traditional farmhouses that makes them capable of being dismantled and re-assembled despite their size. The entrance displays a complex structural pattern of pillars and cross beams, rising the full two-storey height. In order to withstand earthquakes, houses such as this had many mortised joints and wooden pegging that allowed for a certain amount of play in the structure.
