Plastic House

Interior of Plastic House, a modern Japanese home in Japan. Designed by Kengo Kuma, the space achieves its intended meditative character through the use of hundreds of regularly spaced plastic slates. Light from outside gives the plastic beams, with their rounded-corner rectangular cross-section, a floating luminosity. beams. Walls and beams, including this raised platform in the small rear garden, are of FRP (fibreglass-reinforced plastic), and have a characteristic milky green appearance.
