Sunrise on Adam's Peak.
Pilgrims on the summit of Adam's Peak in Sri Lanka, waiting for the sunrise. On the opposite side, the otherworldly shadow of the mountain is projected on the surrounding clouds as the sun rises. A steep, isolated pinnacle rising 2224 metres above the hill country of Sri Lanka, has been a major pilgrimage centre for more than 1000 years. A 1.6 m-long depression on the summit, shaped like a human footprint, though now covered from view with a stone slab, is the legendary place where Adam first set foot on Earth after his expulsion from the Garden of Eden. The print is also believed to be that of the Buddha, Shiva, or St. Thomas.
