The TEA HORSE ROAD
Dali horse races
Tibetan horsemen show off their skills on Dali’s new racetrack, the focus of activities during the annual Festival of the Third Month (Sanyue Jie). This festival and open-air market for local Bai people has been held for more than a thousand years. Horses remain a central part, but whereas formerly local animals were traded, the event now attracts horses, breeders and jockeys from s far as Tibet and Qinghai. Dali, Yunnan, China.
